Can the Nokia N96 Live Up to the N95 Hype?

Does the Nokia N96 live up to the N95 8 gigabyte hype? The simple answer is yes. But this isn’t a simple phone. In fact to call it a smartphone does it a disservice. Nokia calls it a pocket sized multimedia computer, and that is far more accurate. The N96 comes with the Symbian OS for excellent performance, and is equipped with 16 gigabytes of internal flash memory, which is expandable to 48 gigabytes. It really is a complete communications device that fits in the palm of your hand.

The battery life of the N96 is improved over the N95, giving it a 220 hour standby time. You don’t have to open the slide to take advantage of the built in GPS unit and it has a 5 megapixel camera that is easy to use.

The N95’s popularity was that it was a phone simple enough for everyone to get the most out of, and the N96 definitely follows that pedigree. Additions like digital TV playback as well as impressive video and audio capabilities make this a phone for entertainment as well as business.

The Nokia N96 gives you stellar photography ability with DVD quality movies, four hours of offline radio, the internet, and GPS in a slimmer and sleeker body. While still a dual slide unit but the changes in the design make that less of an inconvenience than it was in the N95. The biggest drawback with the Nokia N96 is the price. This is a high end phone; the lowest price is in the 200 pound range.

The Nokia N96 is a worthy successor to the Nokia N95 8 gigabyte.
